About SICO-FIMS 2026

The Sriwijaya International Conference on Fisheries and Marine Science 2026 (SICO-FIMS) serves as a strategic platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration in realizing a sustainable marine and fisheries sector. Carrying the theme “Sustainable Marine and Fisheries as a Pillar for Achieving the SDGs,” this conference affirms the strategic position of the marine and fisheries sector as a fundamental pillar in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to food security, poverty alleviation, marine ecosystem protection, and inclusive economic growth. In response to this call, the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Marine Science at Universitas Sriwijaya are proud to host an International Seminar dedicated to exploring how sustainable marine and fisheries management serves as a fundamental pillar for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SICO-FIMS 2026 is designed to serve as a space for interdisciplinary dialogue that not only highlights the latest research achievements but also encourages the development of innovative solutions rooted in local wisdom and technological approaches. The conference integrates various perspectives—ranging from ecology, socio-economics, to policy governance—in formulating transformative strategies that are adaptive to global challenges such as climate change, coastal ecosystem degradation, and pressures from marine resource exploitation.

Driven by a spirit of collaboration and joint innovation, SICO-FIMS 2026 is expected to bridge the gap between scientific research, public policy, and field implementation. This conference also serves as a strategic venue for expanding international networks and promoting high-quality scientific publications that make tangible contributions to the sustainable, resilient, and equitable management of marine and fisheries resources.
